Full Year Program in Mexico Kicks Off with Three Schools

- From one small class to a district-wide program...CTB is taking off in Mexico.  Thanks to the invaluable support of CTB board member Argie Tang and her husband Oscar, Celebrate the Beat is now serving hundreds of students in three schools for the entire year in the state of Nayarit.

CTB Passes Record Number of Students as Vail Program Continues to Expand

- Under the extraordinary leadership of CTB Program Director Heather Kratz, CTB is now offering 17 classes for the 2010-2011 school year in the Vail Valley.  The record number of students being served locally around Vail is pushing the overall CTB numbers for Colorado and Mexico to a record of nearly 2,000.  The local schools include Avon Elementary, Brush Creek Elementary, Meadow Mountain Elementary, and Berry Creek Middle School.

Aided by her trusty assistants, Colleen Macomber and Beth Kuntz, Ms. Kratz expects this year's classes to be the best ever.  With more returning students than ever, she sees taking these dancers to an even higher level with more complex choreography. Said Ms. Kratz, "The addition of Berry Creek Middle School students, many of whom have danced with CTB for years, has really added a special dimension to our school year.  These older students have very high expectations for themselves, as do I.  I am really looking forward to the year end shows where their growth and maturity can really shine."

Eagle County Board of Education Recognizes CTB Students

- Recognizing the special invitation four CTB students received to participate in a dance workshop hosted by Michelle Obama at the White House in September, the Eagle County Board of Education invited Luisa Taal, Colby Lange, Leonardo Flores, and Lizbeth Bastardo to come and share their experience at the October school board meeting and demonstrate a bit about what they have learned through CTB.  This was a unique chance for these individual dancers to express how much the CTB program means to them personally, and it also served as an important opportunity for CTB Directors Tracy Straus and Heather Kratz to relate to the school board how incredibly successful the program has been inside the schools.
