Cannon Mapp
Teaching Artist
Cannon Mapp is a New York City–based songwriter, producer, singer, creative director, and teaching artist with over a decade of experience working across music, arts education, and artist/creative development. As a published songwriter, he has collaborated with artists including Keke Palmer, Usher, Akon, Ruben Studdard, Melanie Fiona, Monét X Change, and Queen Latifah, while also contributing to national campaigns for brands such as Wendy’s, Hasbro, AT&T, and Procter & Gamble.
Alongside his professional work in entertainment, Cannon is passionate about arts education and youth empowerment. He has facilitated workshops and creative programs throughout New York City, helping students explore songwriting, storytelling, performance, and self-expression through the arts. His teaching experience includes work with the NYC Writing Project, Urban Word NYC, the Nuyorican Poets Café, John Jay College Now, and New York City public schools.
Cannon recently completed training through the National Dance Institute Teaching Artist Program and is committed to creating joyful, inclusive spaces where young people can build confidence, discover their voices, and connect through creativity. He believes the arts have the power to inspire excellence, strengthen community, and help students recognize their own potential.
